What are the risks from chickenpox vaccine?

Getting chickenpox vaccine is much safer than getting chickenpox disease. Most people who get chickenpox vaccine do not have any problems with it.vac.jpg

However, a vaccine, like any medicine, is capable of causing serious problems, such as severe allergic reactions. The risk of chickenpox vaccine causing serious harm, or death, is extremely small.

Mild Problems

  • Soreness or swelling where the shot was given (about 1 out of 5 children and up to 1 out of 3 adolescents and adults)
  • Fever (1 person out of 10, or less)
  • Mild rash, up to a month after vaccination (1 person out of 20, or less). It is possible for these people to infect other members of their household, but this is extremely rare.

Note: MMRV vaccine has been associated with higher rates of fever (up to about 1 person in 5) and measles-like rash (about 1 person in 20) compared with MMR and varicella vaccines given separately.

Moderate Problems

  • Seizure (jerking or staring) caused by fever (less than 1 person out of 1,000).

Severe Problems

  • Pneumonia (very rare)

Other serious problems, including severe neurological problems (brain reactions) and low blood count, have been reported after chickenpox vaccination. These happen so rarely, however, that experts cannot tell whether they are caused by the vaccine or not. If they are, it is extremely rare.

                                        Chicken Pox Vaccination

Some of the chicken pox symptoms that you could get, if you did catch chicken pox virus, is a rash, or even itching as well as tiredness. These are just some of the traits that chicken pox virus can carry, what most people do not know is that chicken pox can lead to a few other more serious problems in their lives. Such as skin infection, as well as scars even pneumonia the other two most serious side effects that this disease can affect you with, are brain damage and even death. Most people think chicken pox can not turn into a very serious disease well it can, even deadly. So make sure you get your chicken pox vaccination if you have not already had this medical procedure taken care of. One of the scariest things about the chicken pox virus is that the disease is so easily spread able, not only through the air, but also from physical contact with any person that is infected with the chicken pox virus. If you have a friend or relative who you know has never had chicken pox, make sure that they receive the chicken pox vaccination so they can continue leading a healthy life without the risk of a chicken pox flare up.

One crazy, yet completely relevant fact is that each year before the chicken pox vaccination has even came out there were around 11 thousand people, that had to be put inside of a hospital due to the chicken pox symptoms that they were showing each and every year. This number was only talking about people in the United States mind you, not even counting how many people around the world where effected due to the fact they had no way to get a chicken pox vaccination at this time. So just remember medical advances take place everyday, take advantage of them and get the chicken pox vaccination as soon as you possibly can so you don’t get sick over it.
