Shingles not Singles sidlelines MLB pitcher LaTroy Hawkins

Shingles knows no boundaries and it is important to understand what it is and how it can debilitate a person in short order. Baseball relief pitcher LaTroy Hawkins is out due to a case of shingles according to his doctors.

CHICAGO — Unable to sit and barely able to walk because of pain in his upper back, Astros relief pitcher LaTroy Hawkins was placed on the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday’s game against the Cubs with a case of shingles.

Adult chicken pox

Many people who think they are going to get Chickenpox do not think that they will get it when they are adults. It is very possible to get Chickenpox even when you are an adult. Chickenpox is is a very contagious disease which is most often caused by a virus that is named Varicella.  If you contract chickenpox while you are an adult, you are probably wondering how you got this disease. Well, the virus known as chickenpox is spread out our air by people who are currently infected with Chickenpox; the way this disease spreads is when an infected person either sneezes or coughs him is spreading the Chickenpox disease any time that the infected person does this. It is also good to know, that the adult chicken pox disease can be spread in more then one way, beyond the being spread through the air chickenpox can also be spread from any touching of a chickenpox, will make the area you touched the chickenpox blister if you do not wash your hands after touching an infected person. This is good to know if one of your family members or relatives had chickenpox you could know how to prevent the spreading of this disease throughout your house. Adults, who are going to have chickenpox, usually did not have chickenpox when they are a child. This is because if you have had chickenpox at one time or another, then you are most likely immune to getting it again. What it means to be immune is that if you happen to come in contact with chickenpox for a second time, your body would be able to fend off the spreading infections inside of your body, and it will usually not even cause for you to be sick at all. If you are an adult and at any time had just a small outbreak of chickenpox blisters, then it can be possible for you to get the disease known as chickenpox again in your lifetime, although this is known to be very rare. So if you have already had chickenpox then you will most likely not be able to catch it a second time, so if you have had chickenpox you can safely aid a friend or family member who is infected with chickenpox, without having any risk of getting chickenpox yourself.
If you get a chickenpox infection, the chickenpox virus actually doesn’t leave your body for the rest of your life.  Although it is known that this virus can also cause shingles, which is a disease that is known to be very painful. Shingles can often cause a lot of blistering rash on a part of your body.  When you are touching any of the fluid that comes with having shingles blisters can often spread to a person who is currently infected with chickenpox, to an adult who has never had chickenpox in their life.
